I create art to leave an emotional impression on the audience. Growing up with an artist parent, I was encouraged to explore creative expression freely, which taught me to work without inhibition. I am fascinated by the way art becomes a coping mechanism for the artist and the viewer in separate ways that are based on the past of each. This interest stems from the emotional sensations I have experienced while consuming television and storytelling media. The personal impact creative narratives have left on me makes this subject crucial to my practice.  

I work with a range of materials on canvas and paper, combining water-based and dry media because each invokes distinct emotions.  I build translucent layers to create illusionistic three-dimensional forms that leave traces of time, and I break up that space with bold lines and patterns. I work on a large scale as it physically immerses me into the piece and invites the viewer to experience it that way.  

As a young woman, I use my practice to develop my sense of identity and belonging in this world. While dealing with topics of misogyny in some works and self-reflection in others, I am using my lived experiences and stories of others to create emotional pieces. My work challenges traditional portraiture and impressionism by finding new ways of showing the human form and human mind.  

By abstracting the figure and its surroundings, I create spaces that require imagination to uncover meaning. My artworks invite viewers to reflect on their own emotions, using the foundations I have laid as a point of connection.
